Baseball in Whidbey Island

Hello friends!

Many Americans enjoy baseball, whether it’s the regular season, the offseason or the playoffs, they just can’t get enough.

Did you know that baseball evolved from older bat and ball games already played in England in the mid 18th century? The game was brought by immigrants to North America, where it was later developed into the modern version. By the late 19th century, baseball was recognized as the national sport of the United States.

I was born and raised in Italy, and don’t have much knowledge of America’s favorite pastime, so I am always eager to learn about it and a Mariners game is in my bucket list.

I am pleased to know Steve Goucher, former pro player and Atlanta Braves Scout, who has over 15 years of experience instructing baseball at all levels.

He has teamed up with South Whidbey Park and Recreations and will be running Youth Baseball Camps and Adult Softball Programs in Langley.

After 2020, I think we can all agree on spending more time outdoor in 2021. What better excuse than playing baseball? Fresh air, improved cardio-vascular health, and most of all, it will be a way to get back some of that human connection we are all craving.
